Elmhurst Park District

About

The Opportunity

Elmhurst Park District depends on a robust part-time work force who help run the many programs on which the community depends. Due to the huge value of these employees, we want to foster their growth by developing the next generation of EPD leaders, and provide a robust community.

Because people come to EPD as part time for a variety of reasons from high school students, to retirees, and those looking for a career in parks, we want to provide support, community, and belonging to everyone who works with EPD. By launching this program, we are not only adding to our attractiveness as an employer, but making an active investment in EPD and our community.

Goals

To increase a sense of belonging and engagement, foster skill development, and empower employees to achieve their full potential within the Elmhurst Park District.

The Program will host “Branching Out Sessions” where part-time staff can sign-up to be paired with a Mentor for an informal 30-minute session on a particular topic. During each session, the Program will provide mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for knowledge and skill development.

Results

Program success will be measured by collecting data on event participation and survey feedback. Because Branching Out is focused on building up part time employees, we will be able to track internal promotions, employee retention, and participant’s career paths.
